The production of active pharmaceutical ingredients and the development of pharmaceutical products and technologies that reduce industrial emissions are areas of expertise that Poland should build and strengthen. The answer to this challenge is the Mościcki Campus, the largest investment in the history of the Łukasiewicz – Industrial Chemistry Institute. During the celebrations marking its 110th anniversary on June 18, 2026, in Warsaw, the institute inaugurated two new centers at the Mościcki Campus: the Center for the Development of Pharmaceutical and Related Products (CeProFarm) and the Center for the Development of Low-Emission Technologies (CeTeN).
Together with the previously launched API Manufacturing Technology Center (CeTeAPI), the new centers form the Mościcki Campus—an integrated research and development environment valued at approximately 240 million PLN, of which nearly 160 million PLN comes from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The investment strengthens national capabilities in areas critical to technological security and economic competitiveness, ranging from pharmaceutical manufacturing to low-carbon technologies. Its importance was emphasized by Minister of Science and Higher Education, Marcin Kulasek, Ph.D.
“Investments in modern research infrastructure are essential for the development and competitiveness of the Polish economy, which is why it is so important to consistently strengthen them,” said the Minister of Science. – The Mościcki Campus is expanding Poland’s capabilities in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical development, and low-carbon technologies.This enables the entire innovation process, from research to industrial implementation, thereby addressing the needs of drug safety and economic transformation.
Three centers, one technology ecosystem
The campus was designed so that a single technology can go through the entire process here: from laboratory research, through scaling, to implementation at an industrial partner’s site.

The highlight of the 110th anniversary celebration of Łukasiewicz – ICI was the inauguration of CeProFarm and CeTeN. Together with the already operational CeTeAPI, they complete a chain of expertise that no other Polish institution has previously offered under one roof.

CeTeAPI focuses on the development and manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). CeProFarm focuses on the development of pharmaceutical and related products. CeTeN is working on technologies that support the industry’s transition toward a low-carbon economy. Together, they cover the entire spectrum: from molecules, through the final product, to processes that can be implemented with a smaller environmental footprint.
110 Years of Service to Industry
The Łukasiewicz Research Network – the Prof. Ignacy Mościcki – Industrial Chemistry Institute has been developing technologies for industry and the economy since 1916. Founded by Prof. Ignacy Mościcki, it has helped shape the research and technological infrastructure of the Polish chemical industry for over a century.
The institute’s achievements today include nearly 80 patents and numerous solutions implemented in collaboration with industry partners. The 110th-anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to take stock of these achievements and showcase the investments that are setting the course for further development.
Awards for Partners and Distinguished Individuals
During the ceremony, anniversary statuettes were presented to industry partners and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the institute’s development. Among the honored companies were ORLEN S.A., Grupa Azoty S.A., Anwil S.A., Nortrade Pharma Sp. z o.o., Q-CONTROL, and Science Pharma.
Representatives of the Institute’s Council, researchers, and research team leaders including the people who have spent years building the Institute’s standing within the Polish research and innovation system—were also honored.
An important part of the celebrations was the unveiling of a commemorative plaque on the library building. The ceremony had symbolic significance. It served as a reminder of the institute’s more than 100-year history and its ties to Prof. Ignacy Mościcki, while also marking the beginning of a new phase of development, symbolized by the Mościcki Campus.
The ceremony was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Polish Chamber of the Chemical Industry. The magazine “Przemysł Chemiczny” (Chemical Industry), whose origins date back to an initiative by Prof. Ignacy Mościcki in 1917, served as the honorary media patron. The magazine “Polimery” (Polymers) served as the media patron.
