Employment in research positions of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Industrial Chemistry Institute named after Professor Ignacy Mościcki is based on the qualifications specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of March 27, 2019, and additional qualifications specified by the Institute Director. , in accordance with the guidelines of the Łukasiewicz Center
1. RESEARCH DIVISION AREA LEADER
Qualifications specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education:
PhD degree, 5 years of experience in the research and development sector, including independent research project management
Additional qualifications:
- Knowledge of English or another modern language at a communicative level (minimum B2)
- Meeting at least 5 out of 10 requirements:
- Organising or co-organising at least one international academic or industry conference
- Active participation in at least four academic conferences or business forums as a speaker, panellist or expert; a minimum of one invited lecture or two oral presentations of 30 minutes each.
- Participation as an active team member in at least four R&D projects, including those funded by grants, subsidies and commissioned tasks, and at least two funded by national or foreign funds, as well as experience in leading a research team in at least two national or international R&D projects co-funded or funded by an entrepreneur
- Experience in carrying out projects or collaborating with the business sector on the commercialisation of research findings
- Authorship or co-authorship of academic publications (at least 4 peer-reviewed publications, including at least 1 in the SCOPUS TOP 10% list) or authorship or co-authorship of academic publications (at least 2 peer-reviewed publications) and industry reports or analyses relevant to the institute’s research areas (at least 3)
- Securing a national or international research grant (e.g. NAWA, Fulbright, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, ERC, NCN)
- At least two awards or distinctions for academic and research work (e.g. institutional or industry awards, distinctions in academic competitions, grants for early-career researchers)
- Having served as a co-supervisor in a completed doctoral thesis or as a supervisor for at least two completed master’s theses
- Membership, as a representative of the Institute, in at least two national or one international scientific organisation, committee or expert group
- Experience in mentoring or delivering specialist training for students, PhD students and members of research teams, as well as for student placements and internships
2. SENIOR RESEARCH SPECIALIST
Qualifications specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education:
a PhD, or a master’s degree and three years’ experience in the R&D sector, including involvement in research projects
Additional qualifications:
- Knowledge of English or another modern language at a communicative level (minimum B2)
- Meeting at least 5 out of 10 requirements:
- Involvement in the organisation of at least one academic or industry conference
- Active participation in at least three academic conferences or business forums as a speaker, panellist or expert; a minimum of one invited lecture or two oral presentations of 15 minutes each.
- Participation, as an active team member, in at least three R&D projects, including those funded by grants, subsidies or commissioned work, of which at least one must have been funded by national or international funds and one by the entrepreneur’s own resources, as well as experience in leading a research team on at least one R&D project
- Experience in collaborating with the business sector on the implementation and commercialisation of research findings
- Authorship or co-authorship of academic publications (at least 3 peer-reviewed publications, including at least 1 in the SCOPUS TOP 10% list), or authorship or co-authorship of academic publications (at least 2 peer-reviewed publications) and industry reports or analyses relevant to the institute’s research areas (at least 2)
- Securing a national or international research grant (e.g. NAWA, Fulbright, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, ERC, NCN)
- At least one award or distinction for academic or research work (e.g. institutional or industry awards, distinctions in academic competitions, grants for early-career researchers)

- Membership, as a representative of the Institute, in at least two national or one international scientific organisation, committee or expert group
- Experience in mentoring, supervising work placements and internships for undergraduates and postgraduates, or delivering specialist training for other members of research teams
3. SENIOR RESEARCH SPECIALIST
Qualifications specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education:
a master’s degree and two years’ experience in the R&D sector
Additional qualifications:
- Knowledge of English or another modern language at a communicative level (minimum B2)
- Meeting at least 4 of the 8 requirements:
- Active participation in at least three academic conferences or industry business forums as a speaker, panellist or expert; a minimum of two oral presentations, each lasting 15 minutes.
- Participation as an active team member in at least two R&D projects funded by national or international grants or financed by the company, including documented evidence of having carried out part of the research work independently
- Collaboration with the business sector on the implementation of research findings, e.g. active participation in projects aimed at commercialisation, or at least one award or distinction for research work
- Authorship or co-authorship of academic publications (at least 3 publications eligible for points), or authorship or co-authorship of academic publications (at least 2 publications eligible for points) and industry reports or analyses relevant to the institute’s research areas (at least 1)
- A study visit of at least 7 days to a reputable research institution or company
- Membership, as a representative of the Institute, in at least two national or one international scientific organisation, committee or expert group
- Membership, as a representative of the Institute, in at least two national or one international scientific organisation, committee or expert group
- Experience in mentoring, supervising work placements and internships for undergraduates and postgraduates, or delivering specialist training for other members of research teams
In addition, the following is mandatory:
- A written declaration of intent to pursue academic development and to commence a PhD programme or apply to a doctoral school within two years of being employed in the research division, and to obtain a PhD within six years of being employed in the research division.
4. RESEARCH DEPARTMENT SPECIALIST
Qualifications specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education:
a master’s degree, or a university degree and one year’s experience in the R&D sector
Additional qualifications:
- A working knowledge of English or another modern language (minimum B1 level)
- Meet at least 3 of the 6 requirements:
- Active participation in at least one national or international academic or industry conference (minimum: poster presentation)
- Participation in at least two specialist training courses
- Authorship or co-authorship of at least two peer-reviewed scientific publications, or authorship or co-authorship of at least one peer-reviewed scientific publication and industry reports or analyses relevant to the institute’s research areas (at least one)
- A study visit of at least three days to a reputable research institution or company
- Participation in at least one national or international R&D project, whether publicly funded or financed by the company itself.
- Active participation in projects related to the implementation of research findings or collaboration with the business sector
In addition, the following is mandatory:
- A declaration of intent to pursue academic development and commence a PhD programme
- Commencement of a Master’s degree programme in a field consistent with the institute’s research activities, and completion of the Master’s degree within two years of joining the research division; furthermore, commencement of a PhD programme within the following two years and award of a PhD degree within eight years of joining the research division.
- For staff holding a master’s degree, the initiation of doctoral studies within two years of joining the research division and the award of a doctoral degree within six years of joining the research division.
5. JUNIOR REASEARCH SPECIALIST
Qualifications specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education:
A university degree or a secondary school qualification and five years’ experience in the research and development sector, or a vocational secondary school qualification and five years’ experience in the research and development sector
Additional qualifications:
- A working knowledge of English or another modern language (minimum B1 level)
- Meet at least 2 of the following requirements:
- Active participation in at least one national or international academic or industry conference (including at least one poster presentation)
- Participation in at least one R&D project with national or international funding, or funded by the company itself
- Authorship or co-authorship of at least one peer-reviewed academic publication or industry reports, or research analyses for entities in the socio-economic sphere
- Participation in at least two specialist training courses
In addition, the following is mandatory:
- A declaration of intent to pursue academic research and to commence a PhD programme/apply to a doctoral school
- In the case of secondary education, enrolment in a degree programme relevant to the institute’s research activities (at least 3 years of study) and obtaining a master’s degree within 3 years of employment in the research division, followed by commencing a PhD programme/applying to a doctoral school within 5 years of employment in the research division and obtaining a PhD within 9 years of employment in the research division
- For staff with a higher education qualification: obtaining a master’s degree within two years of joining the research division; commencing a PhD programme or applying to a doctoral school within four years of joining the research division; and obtaining a PhD within eight years of joining the research division.
