Deputy Director for Research

Dr. Arkadiusz Majoch, PhD, is an expert in fuel chemistry and refinery technology with over twenty years of experience in the industry. He graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology in 1999, obtained a PhD (PhD Eng.) at the Air Force Institute of Technology in the field of aviation fuel storage, and in 2007 obtained an MBA from the Kozminski University in Warsaw.

He began his career in research institutes, where he gained expertise in organic chemistry and fuel production and exploitation technologies. In 2015, he joined PKN ORLEN S.A. as Head of the Fuel and Standardization Team, where he was responsible for creating quality standards and implementing modern solutions such as Efecta and VERVA gasoline, as well as products for military use. At ORLEN S.A., he has served as Director of the Office responsible for innovation and new technology development since 2019. He supervised the construction, equipping, and implementation of the largest Research and Development Center in Poland, focusing on decarbonization, the development of biofuels, biochemicals, the circular economy, and the digitization of industrial processes.

Until 2025, he was the long-standing Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ORLEN Laboratorium, LOTOS Lab Sp. z o.o., and a member of the Supervisory Board of UNICRE, one of the Czech companies in the ORLEN Capital Group. As a director in the ORLEN strategy division, he represented the company in scientific and industrial institutions, including the supervisory bodies of the Łukasiewicz Network institutes, the Polish Academy of Engineering, and at industry events such as the Polish Chemistry Congress, TECHCO Forum, Impact, and the European Economic Congress. In 2024, he was awarded the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations medal for co-authoring the development and implementation of a special-purpose gasoline technology for storage as part of strategic reserves. He is a supervisor of several doctoral students, including four who have already defended their theses. He is the author of numerous technical articles, patents, and conference presentations and panels.

He has been associated with the Institute since 2025, when he took up the position of Director of the Center for Sustainable Chemistry, where he coordinated research work in the areas of energy transition and the development of innovative technologies for the chemical industry. Since January 2026, as Research Director, he has been responsible for the strategic development of the Institute’s scientific, research, and implementation activities.
