We are very pleased to announce that Ewa Śmigiera, Ph.D., Eng., Director of Łukasiewicz – ICI, has been appointed as a member of the Council of the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry (PIPC). In the largest organisation, representing the entire industry on the national and international arena, she will support activities for the development of the Polish chemistry.

Supporting the process of shaping legislation, as well as advising on conducting innovative projects that will strengthen the potential of the Polish economy, is not only a great prestige, but also a very responsible task.

Our institute has been working on innovative solutions in the fields of chemistry, chemical technology, biotechnology and pharmacy for more than 100 years. We have an impressive record of more than 2,000 patents and hundreds of original technological and apparatus developments applied on an industrial scale at home and abroad. Each year, nearly 300 of our employees carry out an average of 80 research and development projects. Solutions developed at our institute are behind the commercial successes of the champions of the Polish economy. Work is currently underway on the construction of research and development centres at the Mościcki Campus – a unique facility financed under the National Reconstruction Plan.

Ewa Śmigiera, Ph.D., Eng. has been director of the Łukasiewicz Institute of Industrial Chemistry since May 2024. Prior to that, she was Deputy Director for Research and Commercialisation since 2018. In recent years, she has been the representative of the Minister of Science on the Scientific Council of the Institute of Fuel and Energy Technology (formerly IChPW) and Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Silicones Polskie Sp. z o. o. Since 2023, she has been the Chairperson of the Employers’ Council (chemical faculty) of the University of Engineering and Health Sciences in Warsaw. In August this year, she was appointed by the Minister responsible for the economy as a member of the College of Advisors to the President of the Łukasiewicz Centre.
