The production of active pharmaceutical ingredients and the development of pharmaceutical products and technologies that reduce industrial emissions are areas of expertise that Poland should build and strengthen. The answer to this challenge is the Mo\u015bcicki Campus, the largest investment in the history of the \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Industrial Chemistry Institute. During the celebrations marking its 110th anniversary on June 18, 2026, in Warsaw, the institute inaugurated two new centers at the Mo\u015bcicki Campus: the Center for the Development of Pharmaceutical and Related Products (CeProFarm) and the Center for the Development of Low-Emission Technologies (CeTeN). <\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Together with the previously launched API Manufacturing Technology Center (CeTeAPI), the new centers form the Mo\u015bcicki Campus\u2014an integrated research and development environment valued at approximately 240 million PLN, of which nearly 160 million PLN comes from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The investment strengthens national capabilities in areas critical to technological security and economic competitiveness, ranging from pharmaceutical manufacturing to low-carbon technologies. Its importance was emphasized by Minister of Science and Higher Education, Marcin Kulasek, Ph.D. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

\u201cInvestments in modern research infrastructure are essential for the development and competitiveness of the Polish economy, which is why it is so important to consistently strengthen them<\/em>,\u201d said the Minister of Science. \u2013 The Mo\u015bcicki Campus is expanding Poland\u2019s capabilities in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical development, and low-carbon technologies.This enables the entire innovation process, from research to industrial implementation, thereby addressing the needs of drug safety and economic transformation. <\/em><\/p>\n\n

Three centers, one technology ecosystem<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The campus was designed so that a single technology can go through the entire process here: from laboratory research, through scaling, to implementation at an industrial partner’s site.<\/p>\n\n

\u2013 The development of expertise in pharmacy, chemistry, and modern technologies is crucial for a country\u2019s technological sovereignty and economic resilience. The Mo\u015bcicki Campus serves as a strategic hub that integrates research and development capabilities with the needs of industry, strengthening Poland\u2019s ability to build competitive advantages and reduce its dependence on external supply chains. <\/em>\u2013 emphasized Hubert Cichocki Ph.D., president of the \u0141ukasiewicz Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The highlight of the 110th anniversary celebration of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 ICI was the inauguration of CeProFarm and CeTeN. Together with the already operational CeTeAPI, they complete a chain of expertise that no other Polish institution has previously offered under one roof. <\/p>\n\n

\u2013 Everything we do at the Mo\u015bcicki Campus is guided by a single goal: shortening the path from research results to their application in industry. We are creating a place where industry partners can find, within a single ecosystem, all the expertise needed to develop technology. This is the best way to ensure that knowledge is translated more quickly into innovations and solutions for the economy. <\/em> \u2013 said Ewa \u015amigiera, Ph.D., Eng., Director of the \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Industrial Chemistry Institute. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

CeTeAPI focuses on the development and manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). CeProFarm focuses on the development of pharmaceutical and related products. CeTeN is working on technologies that support the industry\u2019s transition toward a low-carbon economy. Together, they cover the entire spectrum: from molecules, through the final product, to processes that can be implemented with a smaller environmental footprint. <\/p>\n\n

110 Years of Service to Industry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network \u2013 the Prof. Ignacy Mo\u015bcicki \u2013 Industrial Chemistry Institute has been developing technologies for industry and the economy since 1916. Founded by Prof. Ignacy Mo\u015bcicki, it has helped shape the research and technological infrastructure of the Polish chemical industry for over a century. <\/p>\n\n

The institute\u2019s achievements today include nearly 80 patents and numerous solutions implemented in collaboration with industry partners. The 110th-anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to take stock of these achievements and showcase the investments that are setting the course for further development. <\/p>\n\n

Awards for Partners and Distinguished Individuals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

During the ceremony, anniversary statuettes were presented to industry partners and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the institute\u2019s development. Among the honored companies were ORLEN S.A., Grupa Azoty S.A., Anwil S.A., Nortrade Pharma Sp. z o.o., Q-CONTROL, and Science Pharma. <\/p>\n\n

Representatives of the Institute\u2019s Council, researchers, and research team leaders including the people who have spent years building the Institute\u2019s standing within the Polish research and innovation system\u2014were also honored.<\/p>\n\n

An important part of the celebrations was the unveiling of a commemorative plaque on the library building. The ceremony had symbolic significance. It served as a reminder of the institute\u2019s more than 100-year history and its ties to Prof. Ignacy Mo\u015bcicki, while also marking the beginning of a new phase of development, symbolized by the Mo\u015bcicki Campus. <\/p>\n\n

The ceremony was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Polish Chamber of the Chemical Industry. The magazine “Przemys\u0142 Chemiczny” (Chemical Industry), whose origins date back to an initiative by Prof. Ignacy Mo\u015bcicki in 1917, served as the honorary media patron. The magazine “Polimery” (Polymers) served as the media patron. <\/p>\n\n

Information About the \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network is one of the largest research networks in Europe. It consists of 22 institutes, including the \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Industrial Chemistry Institute, which operate in areas critical to the development of the Polish economy, such as the energy transition, the circular economy, national defense and security, and industrial chemistry. <\/p>\n\n

\u0141ukasiewicz’s mission is to develop and implement innovative solutions that address the needs of industry and the economy.<\/p>\n\n
